At Modern Hojo Undo we believe that good ideas never go out of style. The Chi Ishi is one such idea. If you want to build the grip, arm, back, shoulder, and leg strength needed for martial arts then the Chi Ishi is a great way to do it. We believe so strongly in this tool that we make three different versions of it. 

This version is the traditional stone, or in our case cement, weighted version. It comes with a 1 1/8" (28mm), 16in (41cm) long handle attached to a 2.5lb (1.1kg) weight of cement. As simple as it is effective. While we also believe in using modern materials and modern weight plates, sometimes the best way is the old way. If you're interested in something that not only works like the Chi Ishis the founders of karate were using 100 years ago, but also looks like them too then this is the Chi Ishi for you. 

As with all our items, these are hand-made and each one is unique. There may be some minor cosmetic irregularities, cracking, or chipping but so long as the handle is solid in the concrete it is good and safe to use. All items are checked for complete soundness and functionality before shipping.
