New to hojo undo? This is where to start.
Makiwara:
The makiwara, striking post, is the single most important tool for hojo undo. Not only is it vital to developing correct striking technique, but it also doubles as a forearm and shin conditioner. Choose one of four (4) options.
Fir post: 3.5” x 3.5” at base. Tapers from 3/4” to 3” at bottom. 48” tall.
Oak post: 3.5” x 3” at base. Tapers from 1/2” to 2.5” at bottom. 48” tall.
In the box:
(1) pad
post (choose either fir or oak)
base (choose either wall or floor)
Chi Ishi:
The chi ishi, weighted lever, is the most versatile strength tool in hojo undo. It can be used for single and double arm movements, grip strength, core exercises, leg exercises, and just about anything you can think of. Choose one of four (4) options.
Standard handle: 16” long. Includes 1” spring collar. 1” diameter handle. Accepts standard size weight plates.
Olympic handle: 24” long. Includes 2” spring collar. 2” diameter at top, 1.5” at bottom. Accepts Olympic weight plates.
5lb concrete chi ishi: 16” long. 1.25” diameter handle. 5lb concrete weight at end.
10lb concrete chi ishi: 24” long. 1.5” diameter handle. 10lb concrete weight at end.
In the box:
